Tara (skrt. "star"; tib. Drölma, "savior") embodies as a female Bodhisattva the

principle of compassion, just like Chenresig (skrt. Avalokitesvara), her Buddhist male

Buddhist male counterpart. According to legend, she was born from a tear

of the great compassion bodhisattva, which he had shed out of sorrow for the suffering of the

the suffering of the world. (Historically, it is associated with a Tibetan king).

Of 21 common forms of Tara, the White and Green Tara are the most worshipped.

Tara are worshipped. The so-called Green Tara is known above all as a "savior" and a

protector deity, but also as a teacher of asceticism and wisdom. The

legend, Green Tara was a princess who vowed to reincarnate in a female body.

reincarnate in a female body and attain enlightenment in it.

She realized her noble intention and became the

and became a role model for women and men.

The peaceful facial expression of this statue reveals the

state of "salvation"

Neck, arm, hand and foot ornaments show pearl bar decorations and are set with

turquoise and coral.

The same is true for the magnificent crown, which also has a very

a very beautiful red stone in the upper end,

which could be a ruby.

The Tara holds in her hands the stems of two lotus flowers,

which show different stages of growth, and sits upright in the Lalitasana kraut characteristic of her

Lalitasana posture characteristic for her representation

on a lotus base (skrt.

Padmasana).

Characteristic of Lalitasana is the position of her legs, the one

bent horizontally, the other hanging down over the seat.

hanging down over the seat. Tara rests her right foot on a lotus (skrt. Padma),

always ready to efficiently rush to the aid of the worshippers. The lotus is a symbol of

eternal dharma, perfection, purity and self-renewing creation.

The Tara is dressed in a long dhoti and a shawl fluttering over her shoulders.

fluttering over her shoulders. These two elements, as well as the jewelry she wears, indicate

the figurine as a female Bodhisattva.

The dhoti is fastened at waist level with a semiprecious

semi-precious stone-studded ribbon.

The flowing, finely worked out folds

and engraved floral patterns create the impression of an airy, delicate fabric, especially in the

fabric, especially in the area of the angled leg.

The intricate production of this tare involves 6

different techniques, the

the participation of as many artisans and a

time expenditure of about

year. Characteristics for the successful realization of a highly sophisticated

aesthetic scale are their well-balanced body proportions

body proportions and limbs,

in the shaping of which the foreshortening of perspective was taken into account.

Especially her exquisite bodhisattva jewelry, which stands out plastically from the body and at the same time

body and at the same time realistically nestles, testifies to the high quality of this unique Green Tara.
